The title of tonight’s season premiere episode refers to the renewal of the relationship between Rick and Morgan, something fans of the show (and the comic book) have been anticipating for a couple of years now. The actual focus of the episode, however, was on the fallout of the series of events from last season’s finale, not the least of which was the clear shift in power from Deanna to Rick, and the group’s discovery of an enormous horde of walkers disquietingly close to the town walls – a horde that Rick is determined to deal with. Following a brief one-week hiatus, Marvel’s Agent Carter returns for the first episode in a final run of five straight weeks through to the end of this (hopefully first of many) mini-season. Having found Howard Stark [Dominic Cooper]’s stolen weapons in the last episode, Peggy Carter [Hayley Atwell] is surprised to find that the man himself has returned to New York, and worse, he wants her to get one of his weapons back. Meanwhile, Carter’s fellow agents are beginning to close in on information that may expose her, and one of Stark’s erstwhile shady business partners just might want her dead. And who – or what – is the new lady in 3E at The Griffith Hotel? Click through for my complete review.

Spoiler Alert: Unlike my previous reviews of Marvel’s Agent Carter, this review will not only discuss events, but will contain a brief synopsis of Episode 104, “The Blitzkrieg Button”, and is written with the assumption that you are up-to-date on the series so far.

After the explosive (implosive?) two-part debut last week of Marvel’s Agent Carter, will we get more of the same in Episode 3? Being that Carter has only been ordered for eight episodes, and with the two-part opener we’re already almost halfway through the story arc, maybe tonight is a time to slow things down just a bit, so we can get to know the main players a little better. While tonight’s episode is more exposition-heavy, it still has its fair share of explosive action, and goes so far as to kill off a regular character, showing that its gutsy and gritty approach to secret service spy drama as evidenced last week is not a one-off blip.
